Mackenzie Scroggs

Miss Natchitoches City of Lights & Miss Louisiana 2023 Contestant

We asked Makenzie a few questions about the upcoming Miss Louisiana pageant that she will be competing in.

- (Pageant Realm): How did you start competing?

- (Makenzie): Pageantry has been a part of my life for years! My mother was a part of this organization! I grew up watching Miss Louisiana and Miss America with my mom's preliminary crown on my head, dreaming of the day it would be my turn. When I arrived at Northwestern State University, I knew I wanted to become Miss Northwestern Lady of the Bracelet and follow in my mom's footsteps. After serving as my university titleholder for a year and being on that Miss Louisiana stage, I knew that I did not want to stop being involved in this organization. I had the honor of representing Natchitoches this past year and I can not wait to represent this city on the Miss Louisiana stage!

- (PR): What is your Pageant talent?

- (M): My talent is dancing! I have been dancing ever since I was 18 months old. Dance has been my love and passion ever since I began. I fell in love with performing and being on stage. My dance teacher allowed me to begin teaching dance during high school and this made me realize that my love and passion for dance isn't just for performing, but for teaching as well! Now I get to do what I love each and every day at Northwestern State University as a Dance Major!

- (PR): Tell us about your Community Service Initiative?

- (M): My community service initiative is a program that I started at the age of 15 called "Being True to Being You!" Through this program, I have been able to reach over 700 people empowering them with my confidence-building workshops. With these workshops, I have had the opportunity to be a role model and educate everyone on the importance of confidence and that with confidence, you can do anything that you put your mind to.

- (PR): How are you feeling about the pageant now all the contestants have been announced and it's getting closer?

- (M): I am so extremely excited!! Each and every contestant is a role model in her community and is so inspiring. I am so grateful to be able to be surrounded by such inspiring young women. These young women push me to be the best I can be, and I am so beyond lucky to call them my friends!

- (PR): How has your prep been building up to Miss Louisiana?

- (M): This year, much like last year, I have made sure to stay true to myself while preparing for Miss Louisiana. I make sure that everything that I am doing is true to who Makenzie is, that way the judges and Louisiana can see the true Makenzie!

- (PR): What are you most excited about?

- (M): I am so excited to be back with all the amazing contestants and back on that Miss Louisiana stage! Miss Louisiana Week is an experience like no other! I made some of my closest friends and memories that will last a lifetime! Being able to be on that stage was an absolute dream come true and I can not wait to be back!

- (PR): Are there any sponsors/partners you want to give a shoutout to?

- (M): I am so blessed to have so many great supporters throughout my journey! I want to thank each and every person for believing in me and being such great supporters! Love each and every one of you!
